Do you have an AVL warping wheel? These are incredibly clever and convenient warping tools, and I love mine! I just find it difficult to quickly determine where I need to put what spools and how many rotations I need, for various length warps. Here’s a calculator to help with that. Provide your desired warp length in yards and inches, and it will tell you the closest spool configuration plus number of revolutions needed.

Important note: loom waste!

This calculator assumes you're using the newer model of warping wheel, which will add loom waste to a warp for you (about 24"). So if you need an 8 yard warp plus loom waste, you would input 8 yards in the fields below. If that 8 yards *does* include loom waste already, subtract 24" from your warp length before plugging numbers into the calculator. To be extra clear: inputting 8 yards below will give you a total warp length of 8 yards and 24 inches.
